This is a jar especially made for MONKO experience (the art of appreciating incense). It is handcrafted in ARITA (a region in Saga Prefecture of Japan), the origin of porcelain in Japan,
There are 4 different finishes in total.
KOKU-YU (Glazed Black)
Lightly glazed black jar reveals beautiful surface that has the quality of unglazed ceramic piece at the same time. The chemical reaction to iron creates this color of black.
SEIJI (Celadon)
Small amount of iron creates this elegant celadon color to the glaze. The history of celadon goes back to as far as the early 10th century.
KANYU-HAKUJI (White glaze with cracks)
Beautiful crack patterns are created by the contraction created by the combination of the soil and the glaze. The pattern is created during the process of cooling, and the pattern is called KANNYU in Japanese.
KARAYAKI
Using only the highest quality raw materials, craftsmen strive to create the purest white color, without the use of any glaze.
